Atom A practice with Olympian Jayna Hefford

The Oakville Hornets Atom A team had a surprise guest coach for their practice on January 9, 2012.    Jayna Hefford, Olympic medalist, joined the girls on the ice. The girls were thrilled to have a player of such caliber to guide them through their practice drills; Jayna offered the girls valuable insight with regards to passing and receiving of the puck as well as offense tactics to use in various situations. 

Oakville Hornets Featured in Ottawa Citizen

At the recent Bell Capital Cup the Oakville Hornets made such an impression and on December 30th, 2011 they were featured in an article in the Ottawa Citizen. The article begins:

"In international competition, women's hockey tournaments are dominated time and time again by Canada and the United States.

And if the success of the Oakville Hornets hockey club is any indication, the Canadian pipeline of talent isn’t about to dry up any time soon"

OAKVILLE HORNETS HOUSELEAGUE TOURNAMENT: February 24-26^th

-          Preparing game sheets, registration, selling raffle tickets

MENTORING PROGRAM WITH TYKE & NOVICE TEAMS: Year-long commitment

1. Bantam/Midget players (1-2 per team) are assigned to a tyke or novice team to assist the coach on the ice at practices
2. Midget players (3 or 4 required) to assist a novice coach not only at practices, but also the games & tournaments to earn their coaching certification
